Moderately Dysfunctional and somewhat disappointing

I use the Google Docs on my iPad Pro and my iPhone 6S Plus. On the former, the standard gamut of shortcuts that have been utilized in Word and Pages for years function on Google Docs about 50% of the time. Sometimes Command-Alt-Shift-Up will take you up one paragraph, other times it will take you to the top of the document. As someone who frequently edits shared documents, the frequency with which I am tossed up to the top of my document when I’m merely looking to hop up one paragraph is infuriating. I now resort to working on Pages on my iPad, then copying and pasting in - Pages is exponentially more functional that Docs and possess a significantly wider feature set.

While I don’t expect full desktop functionality, this app seems like it was programmed 10 years ago. No ability to view word count as you type (of course no one wants to keep track of their word count...), when someone else makes changes to a shared document, you can’t view their changes some of the time - it shows up “hidden suggestion.” You can’t view equation fonts. The zoom feature is horrendous. That’s right. The zoom feature. The missing features are numerous and inescapable to anyone doing any serious work. It’s a shame

This app, compared to Word and Pages, is the proverbial dog’s breakfast. If Pages is Wolfgang Puck then Google Docs is a pile of tinfoil in a microwave with a 20-minute timer set.
